Our newest features
The Federated Data Catalog has been released!
We’re thrilled to announce the release of our federated data catalog, which empowers your organization to decentralize data management and governance efforts at the domain level. You can now create additional catalogs within the platform.
These new capabilities align with data mesh principles and ensure that teams with the most knowledge about their data handle data ownership and accountability.
Several improvements are planned to enhance the federated catalog over the coming weeks, but the scope of our MVP has already been rolled out. In this version:
- Administrators and Ops – can create new catalogs, define Groups, assign catalog-level user permissions, and set up connections to feed a specific catalog.
- Data Stewards – can work on a domain-specific set of Items (import, search, edit, etc.), share their most valuable items in a Marketplace Topic, and move Items from one catalog to another.
- Explorers – can search their domain’s assets according to their catalog permissions and Items shared by other domains.

Introducing “Groups,” our new permission management system
We released a new permission management system, “Groups”, to support our federated catalog capabilities. It replaces the “Permission sets” model and offers fine-grained, role-based control, enabling you to tailor access to the needs of each domain while maintaining centralized oversight.
Groups function similarly to Permission sets but offer greater flexibility. They take into account the multi-catalog context and allow users to belong to several Groups at once.
Our SCIM API also supports the concept of Groups.
